Dahomey Stamps

Dahomey was an a French colony on the west coast of Africa, for which stamps were first issued in 1899. In 1944 it was incorporated into French West Africa, and used stamps of French West Africa between 1944 and 1960.

The country attained independence in 1960, and was later renamed the People's Republic of Benin in 1975.
