Belgian Congo Stamps
The first stamps were issued in 1886 when the country was known as Independent State of the Congo, with the king of Belgium as its king. It was annexed to Belgium in 1908 and was then known as Belgian Congo.
The country became independent in 1960 and was then called the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
