The original impulse was to collect view postcards of Ossining in Westchester County, north of New York City. But the collection expanded to contain cards, photographs, stereoviews, magic lantern slides, and pamphlets. And the views are not just of Ossining but now also Maryknoll and Briarcliff Manor (Scarborough), selected views of neighboring communities, the commuter's view of the world along the Hudson to Grand Central Terminal, Grand Central itself and other locations in New York City.
The many postcard images displayed here are a small fraction of the Postcard Collection held by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Archives and Special Collections Department.
